Welcome to Third Grade!
My name is Melissa McBride, and I am so excited to be your child’s third grade teacher this year! This is my 14th year teaching. I have taught everything from K-3 as well as K-4 Phys-Ed, Art & Early Literacy.
I was born and raised in Innisfail, so I attended JWES as well! I still live in Innisfail with my family and my puppy Huxley. I consider myself lucky to have one of the best jobs in the world!
In grade 3 we further develop language skills through connecting, predicting, inferring, and summarizing. We also learn to count, describe, and estimate qualities to 100,000 in a variety of ways. Your child will solve problems using numbers, patterns, measurement, data, graphs, and charts. We also learn about multiplication, division and cursive handwriting this year! We study Alberta’s fascinating landscape, community systems and global citizenship. I foster your child’s natural sense of wonder and curiosity as we explore and investigate the fascinating world of matter, energy, plants, animals, and earth sciences! We have an exciting year of learning together! I hope you have a fantastic summer, and I will see you in the fall!
