My name is Ms. Melissa McBride and I am so excited to be your child’s second grade teacher this year!
I have taught everything from Kindergarten to Grade 3 as well as K-4 Phys-Ed, Art & Early Literacy.
I was born and raised in Innisfail so I attended JWES as well! I still live in Innisfail with my family and my puppy Huxley. I consider myself lucky to have one of the best jobs in the world! In grade two we further develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. We also learn to count, describe and estimate qualities to 1000 in a variety of ways and how to add and subtract numbers to 1000! Your child will solve problems using numbers, patterns, measurement, data, graphs and charts. We learn what kinds of other Canadian ways of life are out there including an Inuit, Acadian and Prairie community study. I will foster your child’s natural sense of wonder and we explore the unique properties of liquids, heating and cooling, boats, buoyancy, magnetism and we also learn about creepy crawlies!
We have a very exciting year of learning together and I can hardly wait to share it with you! I hope you have a fantastic summer holiday and I will see you in September!
