October Message

Hello Families!

We hope you have enjoyed the return to school just as much as we have here at John Wilson! Throughout the month of September, our staff were busy developing relationships with their new students, building classroom routines and creating a safe and caring learning environment for all. As we focus on being a safe and caring community at École John Wilson Elementary School, we actively promote safety and community within our building. This sense of community helps establish the foundation that supports our Chinook’s Edge School Division mission to engage every student in meaningful learning by challenging, encouraging and believing in them. We want our children to be both safe and happy while learning at school. Throughout the school year, we build on the understanding and practice of our BIG 5 values which make our school and community a better place. These BIG 5 values are present in our everyday interactions and learning for all students. It is great to see our students settling in and sharing their learning in many different ways already!

Our BIG 5 are:

  1. Be Respectful 2. Be Responsible 3. Be Truthful and Trustworthy
  2. Be Cooperative 5. Be Caring

We would like to send a thank you out to our School Council as they continue to support our school! At our September meeting, they graciously agreed to support fundraising efforts to replace our playground structure that was removed over the summer (it no longer met safety standards). We are excited to begin this together as there are many students in all of our Innisfail schools that will benefit from a new playground. Our next virtual School Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 26th at 6:00pm. If you would like to join us, please call the school office (403-227-3292) to register. We’d love to have you join us!

In October, we often reflect on the many things we are thankful for. We would like our school families to know that we are grateful for all you do as our partners in education. Together, we will make a difference in the lives of all children. Happy October everyone! Enjoy the beautiful

fall season with your family.
